Timing Isn’t Everything. With the stock market reaching all-time highs, some investors question if it’s too late to get in. Others wonder if it’s time to sell. What should you do? If history guides us, we will do what is best for us. As you might tell, your answer will be less about timing the stock market and more about providing what you need. And it will involve other aspects of your financial needs, such as income taxes, insurance coverage, and your legacy. Last week, I presented “Unlocking the Potential: Real Estate,” highlighting tax-efficient ways to trade out of long-held real estate investments. Unsurprisingly, the presentation addressed many of the same questions. If the questions and concerns from the stock market reaching all-time highs are no different from those for long-held investments, timing cannot be everything or even a major topic. I’ve recently heard radio ads for California Psychics who offer to help you “to get the clarity and the guidance you need.” Their offer could be from Wall Street if you change a few words. Instead of consulting with a psychic, I encourage you to use questions raised by the stock market reaching all-time highs to spur you to review and update your financial plans and focus on doing what is best for you.
